Book 3 & 4

BOOK 3 & 4 Review
Dawn and Night are two different stories but they both share the same struggle. Dawn shows the struggle of Jews just as well as Night but in a completely different perspective. Dawn perfectly puts you in the head of a Jew on the other side of the gun. The head of a Jew doing the killing, with the choices, with the executioners axe. The best thing about Dawn is that it just doesn’t have brutal Jews but Jews just doing what has to be done. That is what makes these two books so spectacular is that they both have the same deeper meaning.
“I don’t want to be a killer,” said Elisha. This is the most defining part of the book. Elisha is only hours from killing but still he doesn’t want to. Until this point most readers won’t understand that there is something to learn. This is the best positive in the book that there is something to relate back to life.
“I no longer hated them,” said Elie. This is also a book of pure doing what must be done. You must survive. Night however, is a much better example of pure survival. Hating will not get the job done; you just have to do what you need to keep moving.
That is what makes these books so perfectly blended. They both leave you with the same question. Which is what you have to do, always the right thing to do? Many books don’t deserve the praise these books are getting. The way Elie wrote was astounding. The book was not only Elie it was also his father. You build more than just a relationship with Elie. You also get the best description of the man who had the biggest struggle, his dad. Night is perfect for this character development. So much that there are almost two main characters. Elie is brilliant for this. However, there are always negatives to a book. Night is a very well written book but there is a very important thing that was left out. We go through all his struggles in the camp but there is only one page describing when they are let out. The tragedies are definitely important but the triumph needs to be incorporated more. This was very disappointing that he didn’t right about his thoughts, what he did next, or whatever he did after they were rescued. The book rating is still an A! This book is too much of great account of one of the greatest tragedies in history.
Dawn really will make you think! This book is one that could be played out as a role playing book because the whole time you have to think what you would do. Do you believe in what he is doing, if you were Elisha would you kill, would you get revenge? There are many different decisions that are made in this book that make you think critically. That’s what makes Dawn so brilliant, there is so much more than what appears to the book. The book is 117 pages but there are many underlying things to learn. The character development for Elisha is incredible. You are perfectly inside the mind of Elisha because of the huge amount of detail given about Elisha’s thoughts. Readers will have fun going through the life of Elisha. Elisha goes through many many emotions in the book that once again go into the best detail. Overall, the rating is an A. The descriptions once again are so strong for the hectic plot. This book is one of the best.

Blog POst 5

In my opinon for a book to be considered a true story it has to be 100% true.  I think if we let people lie about some things then we would never have a legit true story because every author would just make up things and call them true.  Also, that is very misleading to say that something is true and have it not be.  You cannot lie and say you killed a high school student if you really didnt.  You cant say you spent three months in jail when you only served several hours.  If you are going to tell half truths then admit that.  Say your story is fiction with some actual true events.  Dont say it completely true.  if you want to make up things then go into realistic fiction.  I believe David Shields is wrong.  I feel like we do need to label things so the reader isnt confused on what their reading. Also so the reader can know what to expect.  We do need lines between those two becuase how will we know whats true and whats made up.  Also i dont like his book because once again he completly took what other people took and made it his own.

Blog Post 4

Adaptations are essential for pieces.  Especially for such a long book like Game of Thrones.  But something’s you just cannot change.  For example, when Bran hears the woman and man talking about taking his father’s throne.  That part is essential because it gives the book a first look at a plot.  Until this point nothing has really happened until Bran hears them talking about his dad.  Another seen that is important is when Bran climbs throughout Winterfell.  We don’t know too much about Bran except for his climbing.  The author continues to write about how Bran climbs even though he is not supposed to.  For the author to stress this so much, it cannot be eliminated.  Another seen that would have to stay the same is when Ned gets the letter that Jon has been murdered.  This has to remain the same exact way to display all the emotions and hesitations that came with Ned decide to be The Kings Hand.   Although, there are some things that cannot be taken out, there are some things that can.  For example, when Bran is describing the brother and sister having sex that should absolutely be eliminated.  Its one thing to say they are having sex but to have a seven year old describe it as they are wrestling is just plain nasty.  Another thing that can be cut out is the talking down on Arya by her peers for her sowing.  The chapter was very long to only talk about Arya being talked about.  This isn’t too important so it would have to be adapted to avoid a long boring scene.

BOOK ONE PROJECT

BOOK ONE PROJECT

Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children

Marquis Thomas

The book is a mystery and adventure.  So I decided to make an online game to where you had to explore and find clues as Jacob did trying to find the peculiar children.  A game that involves this is slender man which is a very popular online game with the same concept.  In Slender man, you are being hunted down and have to find notes to survive before he kills you.  In this game, you will have to find clues to your grandfather’s death and to the stories of the peculiar kids before your time on the island is up.  Also once, you do that you will have to have to decide all the important decisions Jacob did.  Including rather or not to stay with the pecualair children in the loop forever or go back to town where you are being hunted and many more choices.    So the fans will get a chance to put there selves in Jacobs shoes and see if they can follow Jacobs path correctly or find another successful way to solve the mystery of your grandfathers death.  A specific choice you would have to make is whether or not to fall for Emma.  Emma is your grandfather’s sweetheart about 40 years ago.  So you have to decide to follow your heart and have relations with Emma or to respect your sweetheart.  Another decision would be whether or not to leave America and go to an island across the Atlantic to solve the mystery of your grandfather’s death.  You have your parents, the police, and even your best friend who was with you telling you that there is no mystery.  You haven’t believed your grandfather since you were eight; will you throw everything away and go to an island to chase something you haven’t believed in? Or will you stay and ignore the clues he has left behind for you?  This idea will work because even if people haven’t read the book, you can still enjoy and play the game as a new experience. This will make people recognize the book more because a lot more people play games than read so this would gain the book a lot more attention. For people who have read the book, now they have a chance to fully emerge themselves in the book.  If they didn’t like some of the choices made they can now make their own with the same plot.  There will also be specific quotes to incorporate the choices. For example,” You are my prisoner now my prisoner.  Do exactly as I say or you’ll regret it.”  This is a quote that Emma said to Jacob the first time they met.  Jacob had a choice to listen to a complete stranger or run away.  Do you like Jacobs’s decision?  It doesn’t matter; it’s your decision now.  Another quote would be from Miss Peregrine herself,” So what’s the use in filling their heads with grand talk about exotic wonders of the future?”  Here Jacob is being talked to about telling the children about his world are like.  The children get excited about the future but they cannot leave the house.  So will you continue to tell them about the future or will head her order.  And a very important quote is “…I’m pretty sure that’s flirting.”  Here Jacob is being hit on by Emma.  You decide whether to go along with her flirting or end the affection.  Overall, fans will love the interactive experience with the book.  The book will be able to expand to the readers through this experience.

POST 2: WHAT IS A BOOK

A book is anything that has words and is readable.  To me it doesn’t matter if it is a Kindle or any other electronic device for that matter.  I feel that they aren’t afraid readers are losing any kind of experience but just worried because THEY ARE LOSING MONEY.  Food in my opinion has the same thing going on.  With food competition what’s popular at one moment may not always be.  How Burger King, was very popular but then most people started eating McDonalds.  Food is Food just like Books are Books.  They are equal it just comes down to a personal preference.  I agree with Joe Meno because he has my same exact opinion.  It doesn’t matter what kind of book it is as long as people get there reading they want.  I read from both devices a nook and an actual book.  I think the other people are disagreeing because theya re the ones losing money.  Like the lady we watched make her own book store.  It wasn’t because she had different material but because she wanted the money to be the only dealer in her town.  I hate Nancy Jones idea of a book because she talks about how  it’s the physical copy of the book(the pages and the smell).  I think that is too much of an opinion to make me want to buy a book.  Not everyone buys a book and starts smelling the pages.  I think the book is the same thing no matter what.  There will be the ssame words.  To me if I read with an actual book I feel more sophisticated I guess, but is that going to make me buy the book…no.  It will be the same thing no matter what form it is and that is why I contibnue to read both forms.
